Privacy Policy

Dumbell ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the Dumbell iOS app.
Information we collect
Workout data
- Exercises performed, weights lifted, reps completed, and workout dates
- Custom workout templates and exercise preferences
- Personal records and goals
This data is stored locally on your device and synced across your Apple devices via Apple's private CloudKit database. We cannot access this data.
Health data
With your permission, Dumbell reads your bodyweight from Apple Health to estimate calories burned during workouts. With your permission, Dumbell writes completed workouts to Apple Health so they appear in the Fitness app and count toward your Exercise ring.
AI analysis data (optional)
If you choose to use the AI Analysis or AI Workout Builder features, a de-identified summary of your training data (or a workout-building prompt) is sent to a third-party AI service via our secure proxy so the model can generate insights or a custom workout. This summary may include exercises performed, weights and reps, and workout dates.
It explicitly does not include your name, email, Apple ID, contact information, location data, or HealthKit data beyond what is in the training summary.
You must provide explicit consent before AI Analysis is enabled. You can decline and use the rest of the app fully without this feature.
How we use your information
- Workout tracking: to log, display, and analyze your training history
- Progress visualization: to generate charts, trends, and personal records
- Cross-device sync: to keep your data consistent across your Apple devices via CloudKit
- AI features (with consent): to generate training insights, recommendations, and custom workouts
- Health integration (with permission): to write workouts to Apple Health
- Subscriptions: Apple handles purchases; we receive only subscription status needed to unlock Pro features
Data sharing
We do not sell your data. Data is shared only in the following circumstances:
- Apple CloudKit: used for cross-device sync. Data is stored in your private iCloud database under Apple's privacy policy.
- Third-party AI provider (AI features only): with your explicit consent, a de-identified training summary or prompt is sent so the AI can generate analysis or workouts. That provider processes the request under its own terms.
- Apple Health: only with your explicit permission through iOS HealthKit authorization.
- Apple In-App Purchases: subscription billing is handled by Apple.
Data security
- Workout data is stored locally on your device by default
- CloudKit sync uses Apple's encryption for private databases
- AI requests are sent over HTTPS/TLS
- We do not maintain servers that store your workout history
Your rights
- Delete app data via Settings (Clear All Data) or by deleting the app
- Revoke HealthKit permissions at any time in iOS Settings
- Decline or revoke AI Analysis consent
Children's privacy
Dumbell is not intended for use by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
