Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Sammer Sheikh ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the SoundBite app and services (the "App").

1. Information we collect

• Account information. Your email address and a hashed password, or, if you use Sign in with Apple, the identifier Apple provides (and the email/name you choose to share).
• Content you submit. The article URLs and text you send to the App, plus the topics and guidance you set for your briefs.
• Generated content. The AI summaries, briefs, narrated audio, and word-timing data produced from your submissions, along with the highlights and bookmarks you save.
• Usage information. Basic operational data such as which articles you've listened to or marked read, request identifiers, and limited device/push tokens used to deliver notifications.

We do not collect payment card details. Purchases are handled by Apple; we receive only the subscription status needed to unlock Pro features.

2. How we use information

• To create your audio summaries and briefs and to operate the App.
• To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
• To send notifications you've enabled (e.g. "your brief is ready").
• To enforce limits, prevent abuse, and improve reliability.

3. Third parties that process your data

To generate summaries and briefs, the article URLs and text you submit (and content extracted from them) are sent to the third-party services below. Each processes the data only to provide its part of the feature:

These providers process data under their own terms and privacy policies. We do not sell your personal information. The generated audio is stored on AWS S3 at URLs that, while not publicly listed, are reachable by anyone who has the link.

4. Retention

We keep your account information and the content you submit and generate for as long as your account is active, so your library, briefs, highlights, and bookmarks remain available. We remove generated audio and related files when you delete the corresponding item, and we delete your data when you delete your account (see below), subject to short operational backup windows and any retention required by law.

5. Deleting your account and data

You can delete individual articles and briefs in the App at any time, which also removes their generated audio. To delete your entire account and associated data, use the in-app account deletion option (Profile > Delete account), or email us at sammerahmadsheikh@outlook.com and we will delete your account and the personal data we hold, except where we must retain it to comply with law.

6. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted transport and hashed passwords. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Children

The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

8. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above.
